Things to do in Naples 4 of 52

Fun stuff is going on in Naples this week. In fact, it was hard to make a decision on which event would make it onto our 52 Things to do in Naples list for this week. When an annual event, however, is going into its 46th year, its popularity is undeniable. I’m referring to the Naples Boat Show.

Naples Boat show in FloridaThe first thing you’ll notice when you enter the show is how massive it is. There are literally acres of boats – new and used – and displays of anything marine-related. If you’re a boat owner, or dream of becoming one, the Naples Boat Show is heaven-on-earth.

The event is sponsored by Marine Industries Association of Collier County, and this year they are including a Kid’s Corner that will feature, among other fun things for the little ones, kids’ workshops sponsored by Freedom Waters Foundation – an amazing organization that reaches out to people with life-threatening illnesses and disabilities and at-risk youth, and offers boating opportunities to them.

The adult workshops return this year as well as the food court, featuring Texas Tony’s BBQ Shack.

In years past the Naples Boat Show had some fun and famous guests, such as RJ and Jay Paul Molinere, stars of the TV show “Swamp People.” and the cast of Animal Planet’s “Gator Boys.” I couldn’t find mention of who will be entertaining people at this year’s show, other than that there will be live music.

The Naples Boat Show is open Thursday through Sunday (the 24th to the 27th) from 10am to 5pm every day. You’ll find it at 100 Goodlette Road S., at the corner of Gootlette and US41 East.

Admission is $10 for adults and kids are free.

Run for the Paws in Naples FloridaI know I promised one fun or interesting thing to do each week of 2013, but as I mentioned earlier, this week had me torn between several events. The bonus event for this week is the annual Run for the Paws 5k Walk/Run this Saturday, January 26. Registration is Friday at the Humane Society.

A benefit for the Naples Humane Society, the race starts at 8am and winds around Naples Airport.

This is a fun event for runners and walkers, whether bipedal or four-legged.

If you’d rather spend a day looking at amazing Naples real estate, get in touch. I’m happy to show you anything currently available.

Have a great week!
